Hamirpur (Himachal Live): Himachal Pradesh Deputy Commissioner, Hamirpur said that the decision to merge unspent money worth Rs. one crore from the National Security Relief Fund available at the departmental level of Sainik Welfare Department at Shimla to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sainik Welfare Fund and utilize the accumulated amount for the welfare of serving soldiers, Ex-servicemen and their families in the meeting Rajya Sainik Board held under the Chairmanship of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh on 23.07.2009. He said that a cheque for the transfer of the above money from the National Security Relief Fund to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Welfare Fund was sent to the Director, Sainik Welfare from the Additional Chief Secretary (Sainik Welfare) Government of Himachal Pradesh on behalf of the department as the money under this fund was deposited at the State Headquarters.
He said that money, thus given in H.P. Chief Minister Sainik Welfare Fund is in accordance with the decision taken in the Rajya Sainik Board meeting and after due approval of the department. This money would be utilized for the welfare of Ex-Servicemen and their families for various purposes only and would not be spent for any other purposes besides serving soldiers. He further said that the money has not been given out from the Flag Day collections and there was no mis-utilization or diversion of funds at all as alleged in the news item appeared in a section of the press.
